Memories of Janet are a series of memory snapshots.
Growing up in Wales we lived a long way from her base around Altrincham. Her work locations in Teheran, and Greece, always seemed very exotic, and she herself appeared quite flamboyant to someone brought up in rural Wales.
Memories of not being allowed to attend her wedding due to 11 plus exams. Memories of her driving her unique Heinkel car, with its lift up door, down to Pembrokeshire and whizzing around with her innit. Memories of her passion for tennis, and of her coaching me and my friends.
Memories of her flat with James, and her wonderful Burmese cat. Memories of her love of acting, and the green room of the Altrincham Garrick. Memories of her love of music and playing her piano.
Memories of the wonderfully fashionable genuine Afghan sheepskin jackets, that she carried back from Afghanistan for all three of us. Perfect gear for a 70s student ! She was always extremely thoughtful and generous with her presents.
Due to distance I saw little of her over many years. Contact was mostly by letter, cards and phone calls. She was meticulous in marking birthdays and Christmas, both as aunt and great aunt.
Goodbye Janet. Goodbye GAJ
